We have a Limited Supply of Willpower

Hormones, Weight Loss No Comments by Scott Isaacs, M.D.
Let's say you're sitting in front of a plate of brownies at work, but you resist because you're on a diet. Hedgcock's research shows the next time you're faced with sweets--whether it's later tonight or two days from now--you'll be more likely to cave. Why? Hedgcock believes it's because your self-control is like a muscle: If you use it extensively in the short term, it will wear out and become exhausted. Why Low-GI Diets Don’t Work

Diabetes, Hormones, Metabolic Syndrome 1 Comment by Scott Isaacs, M.D.

Hormones, Thyroid, Weight Loss 31 Comments by Scott Isaacs, M.D.
If there’s a positive aspect about hypothyroidism is that it is treatable. Although it may take time to find the ideal treatment, in my experience, most people do eventually achieve ideal thyroid hormone balance. There is no one-size-fits-all treatment. You need to work with your physician (preferably an endocrinologist) closely to make sure you are taking the right type and the correct dose of thyroid medication.
